Position Applied: Support Housing Officer

I am writing to apply for the position of Supported Housing Officer. Upon reading the job profile, I believe I have the specific set of skills you are looking for. My previous experience as a Facilities Assistance with NHS Wembley, Resident Multi Skill Caretaker, Foundation Project Housing Support Worker and Support Officer and a Scheme Manager makes me confident I can make a positive contribution to the organisation. Looking through the main accountabilities from the job profile, I can see I have experience in the tasks associated with the role, for example, providing ‘information and advice to customers, staff and the general public. Seeing to cleaning and Maintenance of the estate and diagnosing and carry repair work to the appropriate department. Reporting to senior management and managing staff as well as taking care of budgets and following the health and safety procedures of the organisation.

From November 1999 to August 2007 I worked as a Resident Caretaker for the Peabody Trust Housing Association, where I developed a real interest in the Housing Sector. My role overlapped into giving tenants advice on rent and housing benefits. I enjoyed the customer facing side of the role which prompted me to move into a more customer facing role. At Outreach Barnet I was a Support Officer and gave advice to vulnerable clients as well as assisting the homeless. I felt a sense of giving back to the community and making a positive contribution to the lives of the people I came into contact with. I am specifically interested in the Housing Sector due to the way the work I carry out can impact the lives of clients in a positive manner.

I would be a great candidate for the role as I have actually worked within the Health and social care/Housing Sector. I am able to work under pressure and able to take the initiative when necessary. I demonstrated this at Threshold Housing Advice where I was often under pressure to deal with multiple tenants on a daily basis.
I also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills developed from my time in both the Rail industry and the Housing sector. As a Youth Support worked I liaised with many individuals and organisations including the Police, GPs, parents, probation workers, social services and the young people themselves. Such roles have enabled me to build rapport with people from different backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities. I will be bringing this ability to the role, including my strong report writing skills.
I am very aware of the social housing and housing management sector and would like the opportunity to put my skills to use at your Organisation.

Thank you for your time and for considering my application. If you need any further information from me, please do not hesitate to contact me on my personal mobile number on (number removed) . I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,
