Residential Support worker job within a beautiful school in Thornbury - £16k - £17k

Your new company
A residential school for children who have a range of Learning difficulties, Autism, Challenging behaviour and complex needs. Catering for people between the ages of 6 - 19 the school is located in a beautiful estate in Thornbury. The ethos is to provide a safe, secure and well supported environment for the children to thrive and develop their functional skills.

Your new role
Your new job is to work as a Residential Support worker within the School, you will be play a vital part in the development of the children in your care. The job consists of working closely with the residential team to allow the children a successful and fulfilling life, to develop in the education and life skills, to help with personal care when needed and to help implement the schools ethos and way of working.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally you will need to have worked within a similar setting previously and have a good understanding of Learning difficulties and other complex needs. Arguably the most important thing though is your passion and desire to make a difference. This role can be challenging, you are working with children who can have some complex needs and you need to have the perseverance and patience to work with them. Good communication skills are a must and the ability to work well in a team to achieve a common outcome. It would be a bonus if you had an NVQ level three in Health and Social care although this is not essential.
