Cleaning Team Leader

Your new role
To manage a team of cleaners and cleaning supervisors who undertake a range of cleaning duties seven days per week in a number of Council premises across Chelmsford. To ensure that our staff and visitors enjoy a clean and safe environment by ensuring high standards of cleanliness with a professional and customer focused service at all time

The role will require the following:

  • To manage and deliver cleaning services in accordance with agreed processes, method statements and operational requirements, acting as the first point of contact for Premises Managers.
  • To organise staff rotas ensuring that set cleaning hours are achieved across the property portfolio at all times.
  • To carry out cleaning duties when a shortfall in cleaning hours cannot be covered by other means.
  • To monitor cleaning standards and performance, carrying out periodic checks and audits as required and providing reports to the Corporate Facilities Manager.
  • To support the Corporate Facilities Manager in the promotion of cleaning services, with a view to extending the scope and enabling further efficiencies across the Council.
  • To ensure that adequate stock levels of necessary equipment and materials for the carrying out of day-to-day cleaning are maintained, by ordering supplies and arranging repairs and servicing as necessary.
  • To ensure that all chemical cleaners and solvents are used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and COSHH requirements.
  • To participate in the recruitment and training of skilled cleaning operatives, managing attendance and carrying out performance & development reviews.
  • To ensure that all cleaning staff adhere to the H&S, fire and security policies relevant to each premises.
  • To work unsupervised when necessary, in an effective, organised and safe manner, using own initiative.

What you'll need to succeed
A full driving license and own vehicle . Experience in a similar role is essential.
