Ensure prompt and appropriate decision making at point of contact. Allocating work and making decisions about prioritising. Ensuring the appropriate assessment of cases in a timely way and deployment of resources to meet identified needs. Supporting the Principal Officer in the Principal Officers responsibility to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the work of the service area. Providing supervision, and advice and cosultation to social work and other support staff.
Strategy, Planning and Development
Supporting the Principal Officer in his/her evaluation of the achievement of objectives, targets, priorities and standards. Assisting the Divisional Management Team in the development of strategy, policy and procedures.
Joint Working
Liaising and co-operating internally and externally in the delivery, planning and development of services in line with assessed needs. Assisting in promoting the Directorates objectives and achievements and directly promoting those of the Division. Contributing to the establishment of service standards external to the Directorate and to support the Principal Officer in their task of ensuring that these are met.
Personnel, Training and Staff Developmeny
Participating in inducation and other programmes of training for staff. Alerting the Principal Officer to actionnecessary to develop the competencies of staff in the service area. Alerting the Head of Service of the potential need to institute disciplinary procedures and to participate in these procedures where necessary.
Quality Assurance
Contributing to the production of appropriate information for staff in the service area and to service users and carers who may require such information. Contributing to the establishment of the Quality Assurance Framework. Ensuring that agreed service standards for the area of responsibility are met. Supporting the Principal Officer in the monitoring, review and evaluation of services within the service area. Supporting the Principal Officer in the implementation of the Directorates procedures.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Participating in any training and development activities in order to maintain own professional development or to enhance competence within job role.
Undertaking any duties and responsibilities commensurate with the grade of the post and participate in the regular review of the content of the job description.
