42nd Street was founded in 1980 to provide support service to young people experiencing stress and mental health problems. With some one in ten young people experiencing some form of mental health problem, and suicide accounting for 20% of all deaths among this group, the need for dedicated, high-quality support remains as pressing as ever. Mental Health means much more than the absence of mental illness. It is about physical and emotional well-being, about having the strength and capacity to live a full and creative life and also the flexibility to deal with its ups and downs. Young Minds. Services for young people At 42nd Street we believe that a range of different approaches can be effective in responding to young people's mental health needs and this is reflected in the services we offer. As well as counselling, we offer a wide range of youth work interventions including drop-ins, groups, self-help resources and a participation programme. | | | |
