Single Homeless Project (SHP) was established in 1977 by a group of homeless people who had been sleeping rough in London. We are a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.
We employ 140 staff and offer a range of housing and support services, including:
- High support hostels.
- Shared houses providing temporary accommodation and support.
- Self-contained properties offering permanent supported housing.
- Tenancy sustainment (floating support) services for people who are at risk of homelessness.
Last year 2000 people used our services.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reduce poverty, social exclusion and homelessness and to make a lasting improvement to the quality of life of our service users.
Our Values
- We recognise poverty in its broadest sense, and want to offer creative and person centred solutions.
- We believe in promoting respect, rights and responsibilities.
- We will promote inclusion, participation and ownership of services by service users.
- We will provide services that respect and reflect the diversity of the communities in which we work.
- We are committed to quality and continuous improvement.
- We will develop our services to meet the changing needs of users.
- We will invest in our staff so they are enabled to provide the highest quality of service.
- We will build alliances with other organisations that share our vision.
Funding
SHP's annual turnover is £7m. Our funding comes from the local authorities who contract with us to provide support services and from the rent and charges we collect.
