Psychology graduate required to work as a Mental Health Support Worker

Your new company
You will be working for a leading provider of Supported Housing services based in London and the South East. They are currently recruiting for a Support Worker specialising in the mental health field with a degree in Psychology (or associated subject) to key work with selected residents.

Your new role
As a Support Worker your main responsibility will be to provide practical and emotional support to vulnerable people to help them sustain their lives, as summarised below;

  • Carry out assessment to identify and prioritise needs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments
  • Use SMART goal planning to provide needs led holistic support.
  • Create an environment that promotes opportunities for customers to develop, learn and enable skills towards independence.
  • Provide a comprehensive support planning service to customers in line with the department’s policies, procedures and approach.
  • Ensure customers are fully informed of their rights and responsibilities regarding the service, and are enabled and empowered to get involved in the running of the service through consultation and participation.
  • Set up and maintain customer files and ensure that accurate and up to date records

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SCHEME OPERATES 24/7 AND AS SUCH YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO WORK OCCASIONAL NIGHTS AND WEEKENDS ON A ROTA’D BASIS.

What you'll need to succeed
A relevant qualification plus previous experience with individuals suffering from mental illness, ideally from within a Supported Housing environment; Also it is essential to demonstrate working with vulnerable adults and understand the issues affecting them. Lastly, to be sufficient at using Microsoft packages and excellent team work skills, demonstrating both collaboration and respect with peers and customers.
